Summer Lovin’

2010

Hayley graduates from St. Viator High School while Phil completes his first year of culinary school at Kendall College. Phil’s on the hunt for a job in the culinary world while Hayley succumb’s to her mom’s pressure to get a summer job before college. Lucky for them, a new grocery store pops up in their home town of Arlington Heights. Both Hayley and Phil land jobs as baristas in Vero Cafe, the store’s Italian coffee and gelato cafe. Instantly friends, it’s not long until Phil asks Hayley out for our first date (dinner, a movie, and a first kiss). Ahhh, young love.

Back to School

2010 – 2014

We spend our college years in Wisconsin. Hayley studies Communications and Art at St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI. Phil transfers to the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh to pursue Journalism and Advertising. Phil dives in to Greek life, eventually becoming the president of his fraternity, Sigma Pi. Hayley joins the St. Norbert College Chamber Singers and the female social group, BUD. We spend weekend visits and holiday breaks together until Hayley’s senior year decision to study abroad in Australia stretches their long distance relationship even farther.

Making Moves

2014 – 2017

After graduation, Phil moves to Tennessee to start a career in Nashville while Hayley works up the ladder at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. After 6 years of long distance, Hayley eventually finds a new job at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and moves to Nashville to finally live with Phil. We upgrade weekend visits to vacations in Thailand and Cambodia, as well as a family trip to Italy and Greece. Two become three when we pick up Ruby, our sweet cavapoo puppy, in Eastern Tennessee.

Sweet Home, Chicago

2017 – 2021

It’s finally time to return home and plant some roots in our favorite Chicago neighborhood, Lakeview East. After a decade together, we finally get engaged on Valentine’s Day, 2020 in Walt Disney World. Phil pulls off a surprise of a lifetime with a proposal in front of Cinderella’s castle surrounded by our families. We return home to the start of a not-so-little pandemic called Covid-19. We use the lock down to start planning (and re-planning) the wedding we’ve been dreaming of. Now let’s do the damn thing!
